Mrs. Saldo’s – Logo Design
Rhea Rizzo is the woman behind Mrs. Saldo’s—currently a bakeshop offering dairy-free and gluten-free bread and pastries. But Rhea has big plans for the brand: Mrs. Saldo’s is going to be a cafe with private dining and at the same time, a micro-bakery/school. Hence, she wants a new logo for all the new exciting things coming its way.
The focal point of the cafe is sourdough. And that is where I drew inspiration from for the brand colors. The palette is composed of tonal neutrals that add a warm and organic feel to the brand.
Rhea also shared how she loves the book, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. That is what inspired the lineart illustration. The woman in the illustration is both the personification of Mrs. Saldo and Rhea herself.
She also envisions the cafe to be in the same beautiful garden as the book. But with tropical plants restrained by industrial finishes. And I can see that beautiful albeit busy scene. So I thought the clean, thin lineart is a nice contrast to the setting.
Mrs. Saldo’s advocates for conscious, inclusive, and delicious Food. The brand’s mission is to save every tummy, one allergen at a time by offering gluten-free and dairy-free food without compromising the taste and the integrity of the ingredients. So I wanted the design to convey home, nature, and healing. These are the three keywords that guided the whole design process.
